In October 1958, the Sicilian newspaper L’ORA coins the term “MAFIA” for the very first time to denounce the endemic organized crime in the region. Shortly thereafter, a bomb detonates in front of the editorial offices; only two days later the daily reappears with the headline: ‘The Mafia may threaten us, our investigation continues.’ Inspired by true events, L’ORA takes place in Palermo of the late 50 ́s and early 1960s. Newly minted Editor-in-Chief with his group of fearless journalists focus their investigation on organized crime and its reach into every corner of church and society.

Eugenia Montiel is a marginal young. Although she committed a crime being minor, she sits five years in the prison waiting her judgment. She knows that the responsible for her long imprisonment, was the lawyer Diego Mendoza. Eugenia hates him for this injustice and swears to take revenge on him. Silvana, a violent prey, hits Eugenia in the head with a fire extinguisher. She becomes blind temporarily. A strange woman called Endrina visits Diego and asks him to repair his injustice. Taking advantage of her blindness, Diego pretends to be a nurse and makes friendship with her. He falls in love with Eugenia although he doesn`t know that her face is covered with bandage. But Diego is married to Pilar Luján with whom he has a daughter, María de los Ángeles. Before knowing the face of Eugenia, he marches leaving her the truth in a letter. Eugenia gets free and goes to live with Endrina and her sister Cándida who adopt her. Cándida knows the secret about Eugenia`s origin, but she dies without...
